The advisors have been getting a lot of questions this past week about how to print your manual and what to print it on. This is to answer a few of those questions.
First off, to impress the judges, we require South Forsyth competitors to print their manual on high-quality paper. At minimum, it has to have 98 brightness and be 32 lbs. You can typically get this kind of paper at any store for under $12. The recommended ream is below:
Second, make sure you print your manual in color. You will not advance to ICDC with a manual that is not visually appealing. The manual has to be printed either at home or at a store because they are not allowed to be printed in the marketing building.
Third, make sure your page numbering is correct. We suggest printing your cover page and your table of contents as a separate document. The Executive Summary should be page one in your manual. Under no circumstances should the title page or table of contents be numbered.
Finally, make sure you have 2 copies of your manual and the signed Statement of Assurances when you turn your manual in. The Statement of Assurances can be on regular white paper. Also, do not staple your manual together. We will be putting them in official DECA portfolios and will end up pulling the staples out.
If you have any other questions, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or ask an officer/advisor!
ALL MANUALS ARE DUE BY FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 5TH!
