Top 10 Roleplay at ICDC
Human Resources Management
How did you get involved with DECA?
I moved during the summer going into freshmen year, and my friend Grace (our VP of Competition) prompted me to join because she said it was a great way to make friends that shared my interests! The rest is history!
Fun Fact: I actually decided to start doing role plays to train to become a Disney Princess
What is your goal for competing this year?
I made top 20 last year, so I'd love to take it one step further and make top 10 this year!
What is your favorite DECA memory?
Do I have to choose just one?! I suppose my favorite memory was stepping off of the stage at ICDC after making top 20, because right after that so many of my friends made it as well and celebrating with them when we were all done competing was amazing! DECA teaches you how to be excited for other people's success too, and I was literally crying cheering for all of my friends knowing that we had all made it together!!
What have you gained so far from your DECA experiences?
Oh gosh, there are so many different skills that I've gained from DECA that I can use for the rest of my life! Of course, there are the technical skills, such as writing, time management, and staying calm under tremendous stress. Above all, it's taught me how to be flexible while still sticking to what I know. You have to be flexible when you're roleplaying because you never know what you're going to get, but sticking with your talent and trusting yourself even in unfavorable circumstances is something I will take with me forever!
