How did you get involved with DECA?
DECA was introduced to me in middle school when it became a club my 8th grade year at PGMS. My friends had also always talked about joining, so I signed up at Freshman Orientation! Since then, it has been so awesome to see what DECA is all about and how many people are engaged!
What is your goal for competing this year?
My competition goal is to make it into the Top 10 at ICDC!
What are you most excited for this upcoming year in DECA?
I am so excited to see all of the new things to come in the upcoming year! We have all been working so hard to make sure that this year will be the best yet for SFHS DECA!
What has been your best DECA memory?
VP of Chapter Engagement
Community Service Project
Top 20% at ICDC
I think my favorite DECA memory would have to be at ICDC in Cali. The first day we got there, my roommates and I were all so jet-lagged and tired, yet so hungry! We were looking for some place to eat and ended up at iHop, where we had the best breakfast for dinner ever! We met competitors from Puerto Rico, which was super cool, and we ended up having an $80.00 dinner there, but it all makes for good memories!
What have you gained from your DECA experience?
Last year was my first year competing; needless to say, I learned so much! Not only did I make friends, but I also gained real world experience through competing and executing the actual project itself. I’m looking forward to gaining as much knowledge and experience as I can throughout the next three years!
